Formerly Incarcerated, Convicted People and Families Movement (FICPFM) Expands Network To Support Civic Engagement-Focused Non-Profits
ORLANDO, FL –Today, the Formerly Incarcerated, Convicted People and Families Movement (FICPFM) announced the grantees for its fifth annual Quest for Democracy (Q4D) grant cycle, with awards being granted to 19 organizations across ten states that are making significant impacts in their communities through civic engagement and advocacy for the rights of formerly incarcerated individuals.
“I’m thrilled to announce this year’s Quest for Democracy grantees, who are making significant strides in communities across the country in uplifting marginalized voices,” said David Ayala, Executive Director of the Formerly Incarcerated Convicted People & Families Movement.
“In this critical election year, we chose organizations focused on civic engagement to increase participation amongst formerly incarcerated and convicted people, ensuring that their voices are heard and their rights are upheld. Our grantees exemplify the power of community-led initiatives to drive systemic change and promote social justice.”
FICPFM’s Q4D Grant program supports nonprofit organizations led by individuals who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system, including those who have been formerly incarcerated, convicted, or have family members who have been incarcerated.
The 2024 Quest for Democracy Grant recipients have been carefully selected based on their demonstrated commitment to their communities and innovative approaches to addressing disenfranchisement and prioritizing voter engagement. This year’s grantees include organizations that are strategically activating and engaging our community through various innovative methods. By focusing on voter engagement and activation, these organizations are addressing the critical need for increased political participation and representation among formerly incarcerated individuals.
FICPFM is proud to partner with these organizations to support their missions and promote social justice and equity. Some of these grant partners are in their first year of operation, underscoring FICPFM’s commitment to supporting emerging leaders and new ideas in justice reform and community rebuilding. FICPFM recognizes the importance of unrestricted funds in helping organizations and their missions and is proud to offer this support to its grantees.
